DirectConnect Office - Home

The DirectConnect Program connects residents via an 'always on' Ethernet connection to the UM campus network from select University-owned housing facilities operated by the Residence Life Office. In addition to being fast and included in the housing costs, DirectConnect is unique for allowing residents quick access to campus resources such as the Mansfield Library or other campus servers.

The Residence Life DirectConnect Program employs Resident Technology Assistants (RTAs) in each dorm.  The primary role of an RTA is to help fellow residents connect to the campus network. RTAs also assist with other technology issues.

Regardless of your course of study at The University of Montana, access via DirectConnect offers connectivity to tremendous computing resources both on campus and on the internet to enhance your educational opportunities and college experience.

DirectConnect Office Mission:

The mission of the DirectConnect Office is to provide technical education and support to University of Montana students and staff of the division of Student Affairs.  It is to work towards enhancing the utilization of technology by students and staff as well as to encourage and enable student learning by educating in addition to providing IT support.
