Resident Technology Assistant

As an integral part of The University of Montana, the mission of the Residence Life Office is to be a self-supporting, effectively managed organization providing educational residential communities that are comfortable, safe, and secure.  Residence Life Staff seek to complement the academic experience by creating an environment that fosters the individual, interpersonal, and intellectual development of residents.  Furthering the mission of the Residence Life Office, the RTA position will provide residents with live-in technology support of the DirectConnect program and other technology both within Residence Halls and the Lewis and Clark Villages.

Overview
RTAs provide technical support and service to residents of their assigned building. Additionally, they work for the DirectConnect office, providing support to Student Affairs departments and residents from any of the dorms. RTAs work about 24 hours a week, with time split between hours in the DirectConnect office, working in their dorms, and on call. RTAs must live in assigned dorm.

Compensation
RTAs are provided a room in the dorm they support and a campus meal plan in the form of an award on their tuition at the beginning of the year. Additionally, RTAs are provided free Internet connectivity and campus voicemail.
