Things you need to get DirectConnect:

• Sign up on Cyberbear (under Student Services, under Resident Life Services - the same place you would go to see your room information or to sign up for a bed height change)
• Connect to the network port in your room
• Open your favorite internet browser and you will be directed to the DCO setup page.

Phone Cords often come with new computers, Ethernet Cords usually must be purchased separately.

Things you don't need:

• AntiVirus - You do not need to purchase or install an anti-virus application. The University of Montana requires that you use their version of anti-virus software while on the campus network.  It is provided to students and paid for by the student computing fee.

Recommendations:

• AntiSpyware - Most of the time even the best anti-virus software won't catch Spyware. Installing anti-spyware applications will help protect your computer against possible problems.
