2012 Student Affairs Faculty Awards

Disability Services nominated the following faculty members for their outstanding work. Contratulations on their recognition.

Joe Crepeau, Associate Professor, Applied Arts and Sciences, College of Technology

Professor Crepeau is an outstanding mathematics instructor who is dedicated to student success.  He has been working to make MyMathLab accessible to all students. Students report that he is the world’s best instructor and will take the time to work with students struggling in Math.  He networks with other departments on campus and is always open to suggestions and opportunities for improvement.

Jim Headlee, Associate Professor, Diesel Equipment Technology, College of Technology

Professor Headlee knows his students and is dedicated to their success. He works with the students on an individual basis and assists them with strategies for success. Jim is knowledgeable about student services on the Mountain Campus and often refers students for services not offered at the West COT campus.

Garry Kerr, Lecture, Department of Anthropology

Instructor Kerr is outstanding in his attentiveness to students with hearing impairments in his courses.  He is committed to only showing media already captioned or with subtitles.   During times when he was unable to access the subtitles during a class showing, even though the cover jacket had a close captioned version, he would not show the media that day. Instead he would postpone the viewing and with great determination, would make arrangements to have Information technology come to the Urey Lecture Hall to check the equipment and to be sure that the captioning/subtitles worked.  Once he was made aware of the process of how to obtain captioned media, he went beyond what was reasonably expected to work with Information technology and the library to ensure captioned versions were available.    If not, he chose not to view that media.
