Interpreters/Captioners may be arranged for courses, for course-related activities such as lectures or films, and for other public events through Disability Services for Students. Deaf students typically make their own arrangements for Interpreters/Captioners with Disability Services, but at times faculty members or other University staff may also make such arrangements for events outside of the classroom.
The Interpreter/Captioner Fact Sheet discusses the nature of this auxiliary aide, a reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act. It describes both the purpose and limitations of this service.
