Financial Aid Home
Applying for financial aid and scholarships can be one of the most challenging tasks you face as you prepare for college. We are committed to helping you achieve your educational goals based on values as reflected in the Code of Conduct.
If you have questions about federal student aid, you can also call 1-800-4-FED-AID. You may want to visit the Department of Education's web site to review the frequently asked questions.
To receive aid from the federal student aid programs, you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The information you report on the FAFSA is used to calculate an "Expected Family Contribution" (EFC) value according to a formula set by Congress.
Make sure you keep an accurate address and telephone number with The University of Montana.

Award estimates are available on-line for students that have applied for federal financial aid and met all qualifications including admissions to a degree-seeking program. Please access your UM CyberBear account to review and accept your aid along with determining any other documents you may need to submit before the estimate becomes an official award. There are six tabs for the student with the first four providing general information. Tab 5 is the acceptance screen and Tab 6 is one that you should visit regularly to check on additional items that may be required. If you are unable to access the on-line information, please use the Contact us/Help link for additional help.
The Total Cost of Attendance listed in Tab 2 represents total living expenses for nine months in Missoula and will be much greater than actual school charges. The link Cost of Attendance will show an average room and board charged for campus living.
Entering Students for 2010-2011 should refer to the Admissions website for scholarship information.
All summer 2009 aid will be offered and completed by a paper process and not through the on-line system.
