Orientation

All Foreign Students are encouraged to attend the Foreign Student Orientation which is then followed by the General Campus Orientation. The Foreign Student Orientation addresses issues and concerns specifically of the newly arrived foreign student, as well as the transfer and exchange student. All students are required to pay the orientation fee whether they attend the orientation or not.

During the Orientation Programs at the beginning of each semester before classes begin, you will learn what you need to know about the University itself. The Orientation Programs will cover such topics as: how to choose and register for classes; immigration regulations and benefits for foreign students; campus academic, social and recreational services, and community resources. During the Orientation Programs, you will also meet your academic advisor, who will assist you in designing your academic program and help you select classes. To facilitate a smooth transition to the University, it is very important that you attend both the Foreign Student and General Campus Orientation Programs.

The following sample orientation schedules may be the current upcoming semester or a copy of a previous semester schedule. They will be updated to the actual schedule when finalized.

During the Foreign Student Orientation The Missoula International Friendship Program (MIFP) accepts applications from students who wish to be matched with a member of the Missoula community. Your community friend will get with you to share American culture and experiences. These matches are good for one semester, although you may choose to continue your friendship.

You may also sign up for the Global Partners Program (be matched with a current student) who will assist you during your first semester. Your Global Partner can help you navigate your first semester here. Many of our matches continue their friendship through their years at school.

A shuttle van service is also provided to take students to local shops and banks. You can get needed items shortly after arriving here.
