Topic 1: Travel Awards
-Decisions were made about fairest way to give out travel awards
-Should focus on getting more money
-Special meeting to decide awards on Wednesday at 6PM

Topic 2: Meetings with Dean Candidates
-Friday November 2nd at 3PM-Mark Wardell
-Monday November 5th at 4PM-Lisa Freeman
-Candidate Oliver is having lunch with Grad Council on Oct 29th at noon

Topic 3: Meet and Greet
-Press Box
-November 7th 6PM
-126 dollars for the keg
-Charge per cup?
-Kallie is making flyer
-need to advertise-Kaiman? Flyers in departments
-should send an evaluation to department representatives afterward, in email

Topic 4: Fun Fund
-Attend Volleyball game November 2nd at 7PM
-bring friends!
-Group with most attendees receives 300 dollars

Topic 5:  Student Organization Suite Meeting
-anyone who can attend Wednesday at 5PM, should

Topic 6:  Department Representatives
-Representative attendance is growing
-great job!

Topic 7:  Website update/GSA newsletter
-ideas were presented-put links on website from students (interesting articles, research, etc.)
-the website should have a link to the cyberbear instructions on how to forward grizmail to private emails, information about paperless schedules, and links to department representative research information
-Steve will work on the newsletter for the website-quarterly newsletter, with the first one around November 2nd
-first one should have list of department representatives with contact information and an explanation of GSA, list of relevant conferences, and information about meet and greet with pictures
-the newsletter will go out about twice a semester

Topic 8: Committee Reports
-grad council did not meet
-3 credit subcommittee is having problems with the survey-need to take final survey and give feedback

Topic 9: Workshops
-a discussion was started on what GSA wants to do about thesis/dissertation workshops
-nothing was concluded as of yet

Topic 10: Other Events
-need more student involvement!
-Career fair with big sky in February

Topic 11: Treasurer
-Troy has declined the offer
-Anyone else interested in Treasurer position?

Topic 12: President's speech
-Dean Strobel brought the President's speech to our attention
-want to double number of graduate students
-need to convince legislature for more money for graduate students
-GSA forum was proposed to look at issues involving the possibility of the state of Montana funding future expansion of university graduate research and programs

Topic 13: Future meetings
-meetings will continue to be on Friday (unless otherwise announced) 11:00AM in UC 207

Topic 14: GBSA Gala
-an announcement for the 2007 GBSA Gala was made
-to be held at 7 p.m onNovember 2nd at Marianne's in the Wilma.
