Topic 1: English Dept issue

-there has been a student concern regarding lack of pertinent courses and possibly not being able to graduate on time, etc.
-is it a lack of faculty issue and/or UM funding issue?
-most seminars are full

Topic 2: Computer issues

-a new antivirus trial is downloaded for the computer in the office
-the next newsletter will be proofread by Troy-done in PDF converter
-will possibly extend the deadline for the second newsletter from December 1 to January 22?

Topic 3: Grant Writing Conference
-John spoke to Gretchen M. of the writing center about grant writing
-need to find out more about last year's conference
-info and flyer are on computer
-John also has examples of proposals from Gretchen
-do we want another speaker that is Humanities based?
-tentative date for conference-Feb. 6, 2008
-Troy was to talk to Business Profs. for possible speakers
-Christina was to get feedback about last year's conference presenters from Cinna

Topic 4: Next meeting
-Friday, November 30th
-will have a conference call with Cinna (the GSA secretary from last year) 11:30-12
-please bring questions for Cinna

Topic 5: Meet & Greet for Spring 08
-Kallie is to try and set it up
-possibly at Kettlehouse
-need to brainstorm other locations
-to be held in Jan./Feb.
-tentative date-January 30th

Topic 6: Career Fair
-Steve was to have a meeting with person in charge of Big Sky Career Fair
-need to have some nonacademic options for grad students represented-non profit/government
-Big Sky Career Fair-Feb. 20th

Topic 7: Forum
-to be held in March?
-possibly the 3rd week in March
-forum about the future of Grad education in Montana (or just at UM)
-can get funding from President's office?

Topic 8:  3 credit issue
-200 word pro/con essays?
-Graduate Council 3 credit subcomm. is still working on the survey
-have to decide what stand to take/not take?
