I.            Topic 1: Academic Strategic Planning Committee Poll
a)    Discussion of the strategic issues the University should focus on over the next five years
b)    Completed the ASP poll individually
c)     Individual responses will be combined into one document and the recommendations will be sent to the chair of the ASP committee and the graduate student ASP committee representative on Friday

II.            Topic 2: April Graduate Student and Professional Appreciation Week Social Event
a)    Date of the event: April 11, Graduate Student and Professional Appreciation Week is April 6-11, this event will allow the GSA to celebrate graduate students at the University and acknowledge the contribution graduate students make to the University and the community, this date was picked because it is the last day of appreciation week and is the day of the GradFac Conference
b)    Tentative time contingent on the ending time of the Graduate Student and Faculty Research Conference is 8 pm (if the conference ends at 5 pm rather than 6 pm a start time of 7 pm was suggested)
c)     Location: The Union Club, we will be looking in to reserving the upstairs room at the Union Club
d)    Entertainment: recruiting a local band or dj to provide entertainment
e)    Advertisement: We will run a business card size ad in the Kaiman for three days advertising the event. We will also be contacting the planning committee members of the GradFac Conference to ask how they will be advertising the conference and if we could announce our event at the conference and co-advertise the events.
f)      An email will be sent out on Monday to the department chairs and program directors notifying them of the appreciation week and encouraging them to acknowledge the contribution, accomplishments, and outstanding achievements of graduate students during this week

III.            Topic 3: Welcome Post Card
a)    A new post card will need to be developed due to a missing file containing the postcard sent out in past years
b)    Schuyler will visit printing services and get a quote on how much the card will cost and what the available colors and options are
c)     Changing the color of the postcards from gray to yellow was suggested as a way to have the card capture the attention of incoming graduate students
d)    A concrete confirmation still is being awaited from the graduate school as to the number of incoming graduate students so we can estimate how many cards need to be printed
e)    The cards need to be sent out with the acceptance letters from the graduate school, these letters are mailed out April 10 so the cards need to be delivered to the Graduate School by the end of the month

IV.            Topic 4: Officer Recruitment
a)    Schuyler will be revamping the recruitment flyer from last year so we can start hanging up flyers and recruiting for next years officers
b)    We should try to fill all offer positions for next year; the GSA officer positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, Webmaster, and Treasurer
c)     We decided to use our advertising money to promote the Graduate Student and Professional Appreciation Week event rather than use this funding to recruit officers
d)    We will be attempting to recruit from within the current active members of the GSA and utilizing flyers, email, and word of mouth to fill the officer positions for next year

V.            Topic 5: Campus Clothing T-shirt Fundraiser
a)    Campus Clothing needs to be contacted this month to organize and gather more information about how we can have t-shirts with a UM logo on the front and the names of graduating students on the back made
b)    The Registrar’s office needs to be contacted to obtain the complete list of graduates
c)     All shirts are X-large and are sold for $20 each. The GSA will get approximately $3.50 from each t-shirt sale. This is a no-liability fundraiser.
d) We need to decide if this is a fundraiser that will benefit the GSA so we can make a final decision about whether we will do it or not
