I. Topic 1: Meet and Greet

a) Meet and Greet flyer modified and approved

b) Arrangements made for keg and nacho appetizers

c) Final schedule: 9/11 from 8-11pm at the Pressbox

II. Topic 2: Advisor Appointment

a) Faculty member Sandy Ross from the Chemistry department is the new advisor appointed to the GSA

b) Sandy’s hours in the Graduate School office are from 8-10 am

III. Topic 3: GSA Governing Document

a) Modifications made by Cayla reviewed and approved by Schuyler and Leslie

IV. Topic 4: ASUM Student Group Recognition

a) Update: form modified and more signatures needed

V. Topic 5: Committees

a) Four of the five graduate student rep positions on respective university committees are filled. One more spot is still open on the Graduate Council. Cayla will sit on the Faculty Library Committee until another student is found to sit on that committee. This will provide graduate student representation on all university committees.

b) Expectations high that remaining positions will be filled shortly

VI. Topic 6: Graduate Council Meeting

a) Cayla recapped minutes from the Graduate Council Meeting

b) UM & MSU initiatives to increase graduate student enrollment and improve quality of life is of significant importance to the GSA. Increased funding for stipends and teaching assistantships is a pivotal topic.
