The National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI), a non-profit organization, offers award-winning workshops and training programs designed to equip people with vital skills in promoting diversity, reducing prejudice, and managing controversial issues. NCBI has won the Nelson Mandela Award for outstanding work on fighting racism, as well as received recognition by the U.S. President’s Commission on Race and the U.S. Department of Education. It is one of the principal tools we have here at The University of Montana for promoting diversity and reducing prejudice on campus.
Since 2001, the Offices of the President, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the Vice President of Student Affairs have financially supported the UM NCBI Campus Affiliate. This support allows us to offer NCBI Workshops to students, staff, and faculty at The University of Montana free of charge. It also allows us to train a smaller subset of these participants in becoming workshop leaders themselves. NCBI Workshops can be offered for 50 minutes or a full day and tailored to the specific needs of the participants.
If you are interested in learning more about NCBI, attending a pre-established workshop, or setting up a special workshop, please contact Brooke Corr at (406) 243-4928 or at bcorr@umtbookstore.com). See www.ncbimissoula.org or www.ncbi.org for more information about our work.
