There have been reports from universities and cities across the United States of a potential rental scam. It is reported that individuals have been contacting people with listings on their off-campus housing registries and offering to pay the entire years rent with a check or money order.  The University Center encourages you be cautious with this as in some cases the money order or check is fraudulent.  The University Center is not responsible for fraudulent checks or money orders as that is a prospective tenant and landlord matter.  On-line fraud can be reported at the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center at http://www.ic3.gov/.
