Director

Beki Hartmann

Beki is charged with assisting individuals with tenant/landlord issues, motivating students to participate in political discourse concerning renters' rights, and contributing to community dialogue on affordable housing through her participation on the Mayor's Affordable Housing Team.  Beki has created the Renter Center's first Online Housing Finder for use by students and the Neighborhood Ambassadors program

Beki received her Masters of Public Administration with a specialization in Higher Education Administration from the University of Montana.  She is passionate about student renters' rights and loves working with the student government.

AmeriCorps VISTA

The MTCC VISTA volunteer will start in July 2012.  S/he is charged with creating an emergency housing database for students, creating renter education campaigns, and working with campus and community organizations to make for a better rental environment.  

Neighborhood Ambassadors Program

New for Spring 2012!  The Neighborhood Ambassador Program is a new program through the Off-Campus Renter Center.  Ambassadors develop an annual neighborhood event, a monthly newsletter, strategic programming, and more.

Being a college town, Missoula has experienced neighborhood tensions between student renters and homeowners.  We hope the initiative will create more dialogue and understanding between the two groups.

Interns

Our Office Interns assist the Renter Center in various avenues such as researching cooperative housing initiatives in other universities, orientation development, researching possible new legislation, outreach materials and agency event planning.  College credit may be available.  Please contact us for more information.

Student Outreach Coordinator

We will be hiring a Student Outreach Coordinator in August for the fall and spring semesters.  This position helps the Renter Center in its outreach efforst to the campus community.  This includes UC Tabling, Facebook site maintenance, attending orientations, and working with the Director and Ambassadors on new campaigns.  Contact us if interested!  

Student Housing Board Members

The Board serves to approve the Off-Campus Renter Center budget and assist in the creation and implementation of new initiatives to assist Missoula renters.  During the academic year, the Board is composed of 7 members, of which 3 are ASUM Senators and the 4 others are Students At Large (SAL).  The Board meets weekly to discuss new initiatives, current Renter Center client traffic and current projects.
