A Guide to Student Renting in Missoula

If you are from out-of-town or new to renting, this guide is a great resource for you to learn about the rental scene in Missoula.  

Stats on renting in Missoula:

½ of Missoula rents (30,000 people), around 10,000 are student renters.

Missoula has a current rental vacancy rate of around 2 - 5%, the national average is 10%, Seattle's is around 9%. 

What does this mean?

1.  It is difficult to find a rental.  

2.  It is difficult to find a rental near the University and even more difficult to find a rental that accepts pets.

3.  Some landlords take advantage of the fact there aren't many rental units available so they may charge higher rates and/or don't do repairs, etc.  

Although it may be tough, many students have found great living situations!
