Surprisingly, the Montana Residential Tenant and Landlord Act is fairly easy to read and understand. There are many cases that have come through the Renter Center that don't clearly fall under one statute in which case legal assistance is necessary. There are, however, many cases in which a statute clearly states the obligations of the tenant or the landlord.
