Tips for Living Cheaply

Here are some tips on how to save cash while living off-campus.

Rent

Some students qualify for subsidized or low-income housing.  Those apartments include the ones above the Badlander and Palace on Broadway and the new Equinox apartments on Broadway and Russel.  Go to missoulahousing.org to find out if you qualify.

Live in the new Silvertip Apartments!

Beautiful brand new 1 & 2 bedroom apartments available to student renters! Located at 1311 East Broadway - close to campus and right next to the Park & Ride. Washer, dryer, microwave, and dishwasher in each unit! Go to silvertipapartments.com to learn more and to fill out an application. (Applications also available in the Off-Campus Renter Center).

Food

- Some students qualify for SNAP benefits (food stamps).  To find out if you qualify visit bridgetobenefits.org.

- The Farmer's Market during the summer months is a good way to find some healthy and local foods.

- The many community gardens around Missoula allow you to grow your own food.  Contact them to find out more.

- If you are in need of food, the Missoula Food Bank can also assist you.

Furniture

There are many initial costs when moving.  These include the deposit, first month's rent, and FURNISHING YOUR NEW PAD!

They are accepting useable items such as furniture, dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, pots, pans, bedding, linens, etc.  NO KITCHEN APPLIANCES.
