If you are unsure about the safety of your off-campus housing, the City of Missoula can help! The Building Inspection Division offers housing safety inspections on a request basis. Housing units are inspected for building code violations that may pose a threat to the tenant's health and safety and if the unit passes it gets a certification of safety. Inspections are just $15, a small price to pay for piece of mind. To request an inspection email the Building Inspection Division, or call their office at 552-6040. When looking for housing ask the landlord if the unit has been inspected, if not urge them to have the property inspected, and help us promote quality housing and responsible property owners.
Location is always important when searching for housing, but not just in terms of your proximity to the University. Missoula have great public transportation through Mountain Line and ASUM Transportation. And you can ride free with your Griz Card! So check out the bus line nearest you and save a little money and the environment.
