The Academic Convocation welcomes students to the academic community each fall. The ceremony introduces students to the University President, Academic Deans, and Regent Professors, and follows with a welcome statement from ASUM’s President and a reception on the lawn. Parents are also invited to attend.
Shakespeare in the Parks

The week-long homecoming festivities begin with a kick-off celebration with the University’s dance team and mascot, Monte. Other events include the Homecoming Parade, Art Fair, buffet, raffle, dance, and more! Finish the week in style with Saturday’s football game. For Homecoming 2009, the Griz are scheduled to play Cal Poly.
Tunnel of oppression

Tunnel of Oppression, a pre-Day of Dialogue event, is a campus grassroots diversity program which strives to give people a hands-on approach to experiencing oppression. By engaging the emotions of participants, the Tunnel is an effective tool used to teach people what oppression or discrimination actually feels like. The Day of Dialogue is a campus-wide symposium focused on the topics of race, gender, ethnicity, ability/disability, religion, sexual orientation, employment hierarchy and academic discipline. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members deliver presentations, performances, workshops, and more throughout the day.
