Every regional recruiter in our office also served as a Peace Corps volunteer and has firsthand knowledge of the application, screening and selection process.
UM graduates have a long tradition of serving as Peace Corps Volunteers in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Since the Peace Corps was established by President John F. Kennedy in 1961, over 700 UM graduates have served as Peace Corps Volunteers. In 2008, UM was ranked 10th in the nation when compared with other medium-sized colleges and universities (more than 5,000 and less than 15,000 undergraduates).
