Description: This class is taught by George Kessel, fly fish extraordinaire and owner of Four Rivers Fly shop. The class consists of four classroom days and two river days. Running you through the basics of fly casting, knot tying and stream craft with focus on entomolgy, tackle and enjoyment on the water.

Description:Participants will explore a scenic section of the Flathead River and examine diversity of its riverside habitats. The trip is suitable for all levels and the instructors can provide basic canoeing instruction or help more advanced paddlers improve their skills. In addition to the cost of this trip, participants must have a Flathead Indian Reservation Permit with Camping Stamp. Includes canoes, transportation & instruction.

Description: This is a hands on introduction to bicycle maintenance and mechanics. Students will be able to fine tune their derailleur's, brakes, bearings, and learn the art of wheel truing. Also, each student will obtain the knowledge needed to take their own bikes apart in order to clean, lube, and grease all the moving parts.Includes instruction, bench and tools.

Description:A three day course designed for raft guides, rescue professionals and private boaters, the SRT is a 20 plus hour class with a half day of classroom instruction followed by two plus days developing and practicing skills on the river. While the initial emphasis is safety & self rescue, the class offers an in-depth look at reading water, recognizing and avoiding hazards, quick rescue techniques, boat-based rescues, dealing with boat wraps and entrapments, technical rescue systems, and a variety of practical scenarios. We analyze footage of actual river rescues in the classroom and progress from a solid foundation of rescue skills and practice into rescue scenarios on the river. The class is challenging, fun and tailored to the students needs. A manual, test, patch, I.D. card, and certification are included.

Description: This is a class that will teach and/or focus on the roll alone with kayaking. Many people have taken a kayak class or gone kayaking, but still do not have their "Eskimo roll" perfected. This is a class focused primarily on the roll, not on strokes etc. Includes gear and instruction.

Description: Getting into back-country skiing or snowboarding, or just need a refresher? Whether you are new to using a transceiver or simply wanting to refresh your skills, this hands on clinic will not only help you understand how your beacon works, but it will provide you with valuable skills that will help you keep safe in the back-country. Price includes instruction and transceivers (if needed).

Field Trip - Feb. 6 for snowmobilers; Feb. 7 for skiers and snowboarders
Description: This workshop consists of two evening lectures and a field trip. One field trip will be conducted for skiers and snowboarders and one will be conducted for snowmobilers. The workshop is essentially free; except there is a lift fee for the ski / snowboard field day. The one-way lift fee will be approximately $10. Skiers or snowboarders attending the field session must be able to easily negotiate intermediate slopes. Visit missoulavalanche.org for more information. Description: An easy way to get out, shape up and brighten up winter! The day begins with a review of basic cross country ski techniques and some practice exercises that can improve everyone's technique. We will then tour the cross country ski trail and check out some animal tracks and winter ecology along the way. This trip is designed for folks with no experience or XC skiers who desire to improve their skills. The group will be led by Lee Metzgar, retired wildlife biology professor.
