Instructions For Uninstalling Symantec Endpoint

Symantec Endpoint is the only software the DirectConnect Office has you install on your computer. If you are going to be a returning student, you can leave this program on your computer. This antivirus software will help protect your computer as long as you are a student, even if you live off campus. However, if you would like to uninstall it while you are not living on campus you can do so by going to:

• Start>Control Panel>Programs and Features (Add/Remove Programs for Windows XP)>Symantec Endpoint Protection
• Also uninstall: Start>Control Panel>Programs and Features (Add/Remove Programs for Windows XP)>LiveUpdate
• Set up your computer's network settings according to any instructions given to you by your ISP.
• If you will not be on another network, turn off any shares on your machine.
• Make sure to run either MalwareBytes Antimalware, SUPERAntiSpyware, or another anti-spyware program about once every two weeks to keep your computer clean and free from spyware or adware.
• If you are off-campus and decide to install a different antivirus program, be sure to uninstall Symantec Endpoint first. Two antivirus programs on the same machine can lead to slowness, freezing, or system degradation.
