Sustainability at UM Dining


UM Dining at the University of Montana is committed to sustainability.  Sustainability implies that the critical activities of UMD are ecologically sounds, socially just, and economically viable, and that they will continue to be so for future generations.

UMD Sustainable Business Practices – Guiding Principles

1)      Commitment to a gradual but significant increase in sustainable purchasing and business practices.

2)      Recognize there will be initial cost associated with achieving sustainability; however it will ultimately result in cost and energy savings, ecologically sound business practices, and provide a clear benefit to the environment.

3)      Engage the campus community in dialogue and education relating to food security, LEED certification, health and nutrition, environmental stewardship, agricultural economic development, and other aspects of a globally sustainable food system.
