UM Dining Meal Plans

UM DiningBeginning Fall Semester 2013, all students including students on Meal Plans, have access to the Bear Bucks Program.  Bear Bucks provide campus-wide flexibility, and can be used at the UC Food Court (six kiosks and Grab & Go), Biz Buzz, Recess, Think Tank, Pizza Hut, Jus Chill'n (two locations), Food Zoo, Corner Store/Le Peak, and the Galloping Griz Food Truck.  New Bear Bucks accounts can be opened with as little as $20!

Features of Bear Bucks include:

  • Accepted at all 11 UM Dining locations, and provides access to 23 different venues, including the new Galloping Griz food truck. 
  • A 30% discount off the cash price to the Food Zoo Dining Room.
  • A 10% discount off all purchases at UMD retail venues and the Galloping Griz.
  • A 5% premium when you make a minimum deposit of $200 (deposit $200, spend $210!).
  • Provides access to meals over breaks (Thanksgiving, Winter Session, and Spring Break).
  • Students may add funds to their Bear Bucks account at any time via phone (406) 243-6325, online or in person in Lommasson 114.

UM Dining Meal Plans:

UMD offers three distinct meal plans designed to meet student dining preferences.  A meal plan is the pre-purchase of meals and services for an entire semester. 

  • All Campus Meal Plan:  The most flexible, versatile, and cost effective meal plan available, accepted at all UMD dining venues, Missoula College, and including the Galloping Griz food truck when using Bear Bucks.  The All Campus Meal Plan provides $61.75 in Weekly Meal Plan Funds and $100 in Bear Bucks. Bear Bucks balances carry over from Fall to Spring Semester when purchasing the same meal plan, but do not carry over from one academic year to the next, unless an additional $20 or more have been added prior to the end of Spring Semester.  Unused Weekly Meal Plan Funds do not carry forward.
  • Lommasson Plus Meal Plan: This meal plan provides $45.50 in Weekly Meal Plan Funds accepted at the Food Zoo, Corner Store, Jus Chilln' at Campus Rec., Missoula College, and includes $100 in Bear Bucks for greater campus-wide dining flexibility.   Bear Bucks balances carry over from Fall to Spring Semester when purchasing the same meal plan or purchasing the All Campus Meal Plan, but do not carry over from one academic year to the next, unless an additional $20 or more have been added to your Bear Bucks account prior to the end of Spring Semester.  Unused Weekly Meal Plan Funds do not carry forward.
  • Food Zoo Meal Plan:  Accepted in the Food Zoo Dining Room only and provides up to 19 meals per week, one for each meal period served.  Monday through Friday students may enter the Food Zoo Dining Room a maximum of three times daily, once during each of the following time periods: 7:30am - 10:45am, 11:00am - 4:45pm, and 5:00pm - 7:30pm.  Weekends and Holidays, students may enter the Food Zoo Dining Room a maximum of two times daily, once during each of the following time periods:  10:30am - 3:00pm and 3:01pm - 7:30pm.
    Unused meals do not carry forward.  The Food Zoo Meal Plan does not come with Bear Bucks, however students may add Bear Bucks starting with as little as $20.  These Bear Bucks will carry over from semester to semester, and academic year to academic year. 

The All Campus Meal Plan and the Lommasson Plus Meal Plan provide a Weekly Meal Plan Fund designed to ensure that meals can be purchased each week for the entire semester.  Food purchases are deducted from your Weekly Meal Plan Fund and may be used as quickly or as moderately as you choose.  Weekly Meal Plan Funds are reset every Sunday morning; unused Weekly Meal Plan Funds are not carried forward from one week to the next.  The Food Zoo Meal Plan counts reset every Sunday morning, and do not carry over from one meal period to the next.  For more information see Frequently Asked Questions.  For information on nutritional services associated with your Meal Plan, see: Nutrition.

*$3.25 represents food cost only and the difference between the total of the Weekly Meal Plan Funds and the meal plan cost per semester represents the cost of overhead (all non-food expenses like labor, utilities, rent, etc.).

**The Weekly Meal Plan Fund is based on the academic calendar and is prorated for short weeks (holidays, etc.). Weekly Meal Plan Funds reset every Sunday morning and do not carry over from week to week.

The All Campus and Lommasson Plus Meal Plans are accepted at both campuses of the Missoula College.

  • IMPORTANT DATES - SPRING SEMESTER 2014

    • Meal plan service begins - Saturday, January 25, 2014 (10:30 a.m. in the Food Zoo Dining Room)
    • Last Day to Change Meal Plans - Friday, February 7, 2014
    • Last Day to Cancel Meal Plans - Friday, February 28, 2014
    • Last Day of Meal Plan Service - Friday, May 16, 2014 (6:00 p.m. in the Food Zoo Dining Room)

    Students may upgrade their meal plan anytime during the semester.
