National Merit Scholarship

Duration: Four year, renewable award

The University of Montana in Missoula participates in the National Merit Scholarship Program and offers awards of $2,000 a year to finalists who have indicated UM as their first choice for attending college. Semi-finalists who enroll at UM will receive an award of $1,000 a year. Awards under this program may be held in addition to the Presidential Leadership Scholarship, UM General Scholarship and Departmental Scholarships.

Eligibility

Students must be a National Merit Scholarship Finalist or Semi-finalist as determined by PSAT Test taken junior year in high school. Copy of letter showing National Merit status must be submitted to UM Financial Aid Office.


National Merit Tuition Waiver

Duration: One year

The National Merit Semi-Finalist Tuition Waiver eliminates tuition costs charged to a qualifying student; it does not waive fees or any other charges.

Eligibility

To qualify for the National Merit Semi-Finalist Tuition Waiver you must meet the following two requirements:

  • Graduated from a Montana high school in the last nine months
  • Be a National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist
