I am an avid reader and love a good game of Ultimate Frisbee. I enjoy snowboarding and painting, running and playing my alto saxophone, amongst other things. I am a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Golden Key, Order of Omega and Mortar Board Honor Societies, as well as the Vice President: Finance and one of the founding members of the University of Montana Student Alumni Association. In addition to my fraternal officerships, I am a founding member of the UM Men of Strength Club (MOST), an organization committed to ending sexual assault and gender oppression on campus, as well as being a Student At Large for ASUM on the Information Technologies, Relations and Affairs, Student Outreach and Marketing, and UM Recreation Center Committees. I also am an award-winning professional undergraduate biochemistry researcher in the Samuels' Lab on campus in the field of Lyme Borreliology, specifically dealing with rRNA ribosomal composition, interactions, and genetic expression. In terms of traditional community service, I have helped to clean the Grizzly Stadium after Griz games and have volunteered at the Poverello Center in the past. My involvement in Phi Delta Theta was initially fueled by a desire to develop myself as a leader and be able to shape a fraternal chapter to be the greatest it can be, as I am a Re-Founding Father of the Montana Alpha chapter on our campus. In my time with Phi Delta Theta, going from our beginnings as a 10 man interest group to the largest fraternity on campus at about 50 men in a year, I have served my chapter as both the Risk Management Chairman and New Member Educator. Going Greek is one of the best decisions I've ever made with my life.

I am a current Junior at the University of Montana. I am apart of the SARC Outreach Program and Volunteer with the Missoula Police department. In my spare time I am a avid outdoorsmen. I love to mountain climb and rock climb but most of all I love to ski. I became a Greek in the Spring of 2011 because I felt that I was lacking something in my life. I wanted a leadership opportunity and to be apart of an organization that was bigger then just an individual. I gravitated towards the Sigma Chi Fraternity because of the leadership that I saw within the house. I noticed that there were very different personalities within the house and it appeared to me that the individuality was widely accepted. Becoming a Greek has been the best decision of my life.

An avid skier, Michael transferred to UM in the late summer of 2011. While striving to fit in as much of the beauty that is Montana's wilderness, Michael plans on pursuing a degree in Management Information systems while simultaneously perpetuating the progress of his personal Hip Hop project, Black Irish. Mike would choose a coffee milkshake over a chocolate, about 9 times out of 10.
