The Griz Card is the official University of Montana identification card for students, faculty and staff. It provides easy access to University of Montana resources and packs a wealth of innovative technologies into one powerful and convenient card.
UMoney is a prepaid flexible spending account accessed by the University of Montana Griz Card. Deposit funds into your student's UMoney account and they will enjoy the convenience of being able to make purchases at over 100 on and off campus locations. Transactions are automatically deducted from the account, and the balance is displayed.
On campus merchants include the bookstore, food venues, copy center, snack and beverage vending machines, hair salon and mail services. The 80+ off campus merchants include restaurants, florists, laundry and dry cleaning, entertainment and music, office supplies, recreation and automotive care. As a parent, you can give your student money knowing it will be spent in a safe and responsible way. UMoney Merchants are accepted in the interest of the student's well being, meaning you don't have to worry about your money being spent on something like a new tattoo. Each person's spending habits are different; however, we have provided a suggested UMoney deposit amount. This is based on a student's average spending throughout a semester. Keep in mind making deposits throughout the semester is easy. Also, UMoney makes a perfect 'pick me up' or 'good job' for acing a test.
You may make deposits to your student's account by calling (406) 243-6943, visiting us while on campus, or by depositing online. We accept cash, check, Visa or Mastercard. If you live out of town, we recommend the online method of depositing for fast and easy deposits on the go.
When depositing, you will need to know your student's UM ID # (begins with 790). If depositing over the phone please be prepared with the student ID #, your phone #, and your credit card information.
Depositing online is quick and simple! Just go to www.GrizCard.com any time, seven days a week. Click on the green icon 'Deposit UMoney Online', then click ‘Add Cash Now'. Enter your information using either Visa or Mastercard. Once submitted, you will receive an email confirmation that funds are available on the Griz Card and ready to use. Deposit online now!
You can create a log-in for your student's UMoney online account. By having a log-in you can view the transaction history, check the balance, and save credit card information for quick and easy deposits on the go. Once on our homepage, click ‘Manage my Account'. The first time you will have to input the U of M ID# and an e-mail address, and a password will be sent to your e-mail. After you have received the password, go to ‘Manage your Account' and login. You can change the password after logging in the first time and now view all the activity on your UMoney Account.
Your student has the ability to grant up to four guest accounts on their UMoney online account. Once a guest account is setup, an e-mail will be sent with the guest's login and password. Once your student has granted you access, you can view UMoney transactions as well as save your credit card information for fast, easy deposits on the run. Your student can even sign up to have an email sent to you when their UMoney balance is low.
