Retirees & Lifetime Retirees

What is a Griz Card?

The Griz Card is the official University of Montana identification card for students, faculty and staff, alumni, affiliates, and retirees. It provides easy access to University of Montana resources and packs a wealth of innovative technologies into one powerful and convenient card. Please read the Griz Card Terms and Conditions.

How do I get a Griz Card?

Retirees seeking Griz Cards should go to the Griz Card Center. Please bring a copy of the retiree status verification letter that was provided by Human Resources Benefits Services. Griz Card Center staff may be able to verify retirement status by calling Human Resources.

Getting the Card

Come to the Griz Card Center, located on the 1st floor of the University Center. You will need to bring $15 cash, check, Visa or Mastercard for your first card, and a photo ID. The cost of the card fee will be covered by the Office of the President for Retirees who have been in the service of the University for 15 or more years with Lifetime Retiree Privileges. Acceptable forms of photo ID include: a Federal or State Government issued identification (ex: driver's license), a passport, military ID, high school ID, or other government issued photo ID. Griz Card Center personnel will take your photo, and your card will be printed at that time.

Griz Card Photo Requirements:

  • Our office suggests wearing a non-white shirt for the photo
  • Eyeglasses can be worn if normally used by the individual
  • Hats, headpieces, and scarves may be included if worn daily for religious purposes; they should not obscure or cast shadows on the eyes or any other part of the face
