Deferred Admission

The Graduate School may defer admission for one term on the recommendation of the department. The Graduate School will not defer admission for more than one term; the student is required to reapply to the program.

Procedure

Students seeking deferred admission for one term must contact their department chair and make a request.

A departmental memo or e-mail must be submitted from the chair to the Dean of the Graduate School, requesting a one-term deferment in admission.

When the Graduate School approves the request and before the student enrolls, the student must submit a readmission form to the Graduate School (available through the Graduate School office or Graduate School web site) signed by the chair of the student's program. A $20 application fee is required with the form.

The form must be submitted to the Graduate School no sooner than the beginning of pre-registration for the term the student plans to enter the program. (See Academic Calendar for dates.
