I am a freshman.   Do I have to live in residence halls?

I already moved in to the residence halls but I just found a great apartment mid semester, can I move out?

When do I have to move out?

You should move out of your residence hall within 24 hours of your last final.  All resident must be out by 5:00pm on the last day finals are administered.  For specific dates, please see Important Dates

When are cancellation deadlines?

How much does my room cost?

What about optional bed lofting? What Does it look like?

What size is my mattress? 

All mattresses in the Montana Residence Halls are standard twin.  

Is there internet in my room and how much does it cost?

Internet access is now included in the regular room rate.  

What type of computer should I bring, and do I need special hardware to connect to the network? 

What if I arrive in Missoula without towels or linen for my bed?

Do I need a parking decal if I bring a car to campus?

Yes, all cars parked in a campus parking lot require a decal.   Go to Parking for  information about the rules and regulations.

What else can I learn about Residence Life?

Are Animals allowed in the Residence Halls?

Only companion animals approved by Disability Services are allowed.  Please see the University of Montana Service, Therapy and Companion Animal Policy for more information.

Important Dates for Residence Halls

Am I covered with insurance if something is damaged or stolen in my room?

You are responsible for your own personal belongings in your room.   We suggest you make sure you have either coverage on your family's homeowners insurance or purchase rental insurance.   Information about coverage is available at (1) Montana Insurance  or (2)  NSSI Insurance.    Compare your homeowner coverage to rental coverage at NSSI Compare.
