Residence Halls Housing Application
Which Residence Halls are currently available? Question about status? Contact 406.243.4243 or RJoseph@mso.umt.edu |
Application Status: Approximately three weeks after you have submitted your application, please log on to Cyberbear and review your assignment information and your currently assigned roommate. If you do not see a room assignment, please check back in a few days or make sure the correct term has been selected.
The following Buildings/Rooms are full for Fall 2012, and are therefore not available:
For Women: All Single rooms in all buildings plus
For Men: All Single rooms in all buildings plus
Applications are received and accepted throughout the year. Applicants are assigned rooms based on a first come, first serve basis of the date of receipt of the application. There is not a deadline for sending in applications. Generally by the 1st of February each year many of our spaces are already reserved and the choices become more limited as we get closer to fall semester.
*This information does not guarantee availability, it is only for informational purposes and may change without notice. Rooms are assigned on a first come, first served basis.
Once you’ve been assigned to a room, you generally don’t change halls with the exception of one of these 2 reasons:
1. You didn’t get your first choice of room as it was listed on your application- therefore you are automatically put onto a wait list for the types of rooms you didn’t get in, based on the order that your application was received- and should we have enough cancellations to where you move up the list before July (when we stop using our wait lists because we start to fill our overflow housing), I will give you a call and offer you a room should one come available that matches your age/room preferences. OR if the 1st scenario doesn’t happen:
2. You can wait until the beginning of the school year after you’ve moved in to your currently assigned room and go to the desk of each hall you would like to live and ask to be put on the new wait list for the type of room you want. Once we do our warm body count to see how many people have shown up/how many haven’t/how many people are still in our interim/overflow housing- and once we know what’s available (usually after the first 2-3 weeks of school) we fill those spaces based off of the new wait list.
To log into Cyberbear go to cyberbear.umt.edu click Login, enter UM Net ID number (usually initials followed by numbers abxxxxxx) -> Select Student -> Select Residence Life Services -> Select See your room assignment and roommate -> and Select Term of Assignment. After you get your roommate's name, phone number and e-mail address, be sure to page down and learn about what to bring with you, move in dates, cancellation deadlines, room rates, and lots of other important information about Residence Life. Remember, if you are assigned to a Miller Pod, or Pantzer Suite your pod or suite mates may not yet be assigned If you are in a double room, you will be assigned a roommate at some future time even if one is not currently assigned. If you have applied for a single but are not assigned a single, your application would automatically place you on our waiting list until August 1. Access Cyberbear anytime after your acceptance and check to see if your roommate has changed due to cancellations. Please visit www.umt.edu/reslife for room photos, rates, dates and early arrival information, etc.
Cancellation of your Reservations: Room reservations must be cancelled directly with the Residence Life Office (Calling the Admission Office does not cancel the room reservation). If cancellation occurs before June 1, $200 of the prepayment will be refunded, if cancellation occurs between June 1 and July 31, $100 of the prepayment will be refunded. There is no refund for cancellations after August 1. If you apply and cancel after the deadlines, the same dates still apply.
Trouble logging in? Until you have received your acceptance packet from the Admissions Office, you will not be able to access Cyberbear. At that time please use your assigned net ID number, PIN (initially the last six digits of your student ID number 790xxxxxx] until you change it). If this is the first time you have logged in be prepared to immediately change your PIN#. The system will also ask you to provide a personal security question (example: What is my favorite color?) and answer (example: Blue) which will assist you in accessing Cyberbear in the future if you forget your PIN. If your PIN number for Cyberbear is not working, please call the IT Help Desk at 406-243-HELP(4357) for assistance.
