Resident Assistant Position

RA StaffThe Resident Assistant is a part time (20 hours per week) live-in student responsible for a floor or wing of a residence hall consisting of 23 to 52 students. They work in all phases of the residential living experience along side the Supervisory Staff and are responsible for their floor community. They serve as a liaison between the University administration and the residents of the hall; foster an atmosphere for academic, social, cultural and emotional growth in the residence hall by serving as an advisor to the residents; assist in the enforcement of all University and hall policies; are responsible for the general well-being, community development and a student learning environment in the residence hall. Compensation: RAs earn an on-campus room, meal plan and stipend based on their residence hall placement. For the 2012-2013 academic year new RAs earn $8,556.00.

2013-2014 RA Application Process

Application

All RA candidates must complete an online application to be considered for the position. The New RA Application closed on February 18, 2013. The Returning RA Application closed on January 30, 2013. Once an application is received you will receive an email with information about scheduling two interviews, a group process interview and an individual interview.

Group Process Interview

All new RA candidates must attend one of the two scheduled group process interviews- Friday, February 22, 2013 from 4:30-6:30pm or Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 10:00am-12:00pm. Group Process is a portion of the interview process when RA candidates are given different activities to work through as a group.

Individual Interview

All RA candidates must attend a 20-minute individual interview. These interviews will take place February 25- March 6, 2013. This interview will consist of a question and answer session with the questions more biographical in nature so we can get to know who you are, why you are interested in being an RA and what kind of activities, jobs and experiences you have been involved in.

Hiring Notification

All RA candidates will be notified of their hiring status in late March, before Spring Break.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2.25 GPA
  • Be a full-time student
  • Be in good conduct standing with the University
  • Interest in working with people

February 22-23, 2013- Group Process Interviews

February 25-March 6, 2013- Individual Interviews

Late March 2013- Hiring notifications sent to all candidates

August 5, 2013- Contract begins for 2013-2014 RA Staff
