Vacuums
A limited number of vacuums are available for check out for $1.00 at the University Villages Office, for a 24-hour period. Please clean the vacuum bristles and empty the bag after each use, and return promptly to the office for other residents to use. You will be billed the replacement cost of the vacuum if it is not returned within the 24 hour use period. The proceeds from this checkout service will help replenish vacuum supplies and may allow for more vacuums to be available in the future.

Laundry
Craighead/Sisson and K. Ross Toole apartments have hook up facilities for washers and electric dryers in each unit. (Except studio apartments in K. Ross Toole)

Washers and dryers are not permitted in the Elliott Village apartments. However, coin-operated washer/dryer facilities are provided within the complex. The cost is $1.00 to operate a wash machine and .50 cents for approximately 40 minutes of drying time.

The care and cleaning of the machines and laundry rooms in the responsibility of the residents. Lint and garbage should be cleaned from the washers and dryers. The machines should be wiped clean and all excess laundry boxes, bottles, etc., should be placed in the dumpsters.

Utilities

The University pays for sewer, water, and trash removal for all apartments (Cable See Below)

Craighead/Sisson Apartments

The University pays for gas and electrical services in the Craighead/Sisson Apartments. Please report electrical and heating problems to the University Villages Office, 243-6030.

Elliott/K. Ross Toole Village

Elliott and K. Ross Toole Village residents must arrange for electrical and gas services with Northwestern Energy, phone 1-888-467-2669. Report electrical problems to the University Villages Office. Report gas-heating problems to Northwestern Energy and the University Villages Office.

Telephone Service
Arrange for landline telephone service with the phone company of your choice, or have cellular service. 

Please use telephones where terminals (jacks) are presently in your apartment.

TV Cable Service
University Villages has contracted with Bresnan Cable to provide Basic-Expanded cable service to each apartment. You can contact the University Village office 243-6030, if you have any questions about this cable service, or have connection problems. For premium movie channels not included in the Basic Expanded package you can contact Bresnan for these additional channels. High speed Internet is also offered through Bresnan Communications and residents will have to contact Bresnan for this additional service, 728-4200.

Please note satellite dishes of any size are not permitted in University Villages for maintenance and safety reasons.

Garbage Service
Garbage containers, located throughout the University Villages area, are emptied 3-4 times a week and will ordinarily handle all refuse. Please put all trash and garbage inside these containers. Do not put hazardous waste in these containers. DO NOT place garbage on porches or balcony areas.

If the garbage container located nearest to your apartment is full, please use another container. Do not leave your trash on the ground next to the container. Clean up any trash or garbage you spill and close the lid. Please put raw garbage in closed bags or wrap and tie it in newspapers before putting it in the outside garbage containers. Do not put wet overflowing bags of garbage into the outside containers.

For safety and sanitation concerns, always have an adult family member, or a child accompanied by an adult, dispose of all refuse to insure proper disposal. Do not put large cardboard boxes in the garbage containers; put them next to the garbage containers during the morning hours only, before 8:00 a.m.

We reserve the right to assess a removal fee for improper garbage disposal.

Recycling
Recycling stations have been set up in the University Villages community. Recycling stations consist of: white paper, glass, aluminum cans, and newspaper. You are asked to carefully recycle all products by placing them in the correct bin. The recycling bins are located 1) east side of the Community Center, 2) between Craighead and Sisson, 3) on Cinnabar Drive next to the maintenance building, and 4) outside wash house #2 in Garnet Court.

Mail
The United States Postal Service delivers mail to the community mailboxes near your apartment. To receive the key to open your mailbox, please go to the main post office at 1100 W. Kent.

Office of Campus Security
University Villages is part of The University of Montana campus and therefore under the jurisdiction of Campus Police.

To report an emergency please dial 911, then if time permits, dial 243-4000. If you encounter a non-emergency situation, please call the Office of Campus Security, 243-6131.

You can usually see Campus Police patrolling in the University Villages area, seven days a week and different times throughout the day and night. These patrols can be on bikes or in cars and are always there to help, if you need.

University Villages has three emergency phones located in our complex: 1) at the intersection of the Craighead apartments, 2) the intersection of the Sisson apartments, and 3) next to the basketball court in Granite Court (Toole Village). The phone inside the office door can also be used in the case of an emergency.

Please instruct those residing in your apartment the location of the emergency phone. Please also explain to small children the importance if these phones and not to play with them.

Vehicle and Parking Regulations
The parking lots in University Villages are designated scramble parking. We do suggest a parking space on an assignment card posted in the Elliott Village apartments; however, this is only a suggested parking space.

All parking lots are restricted to tenants only. University Villages parking decals will be limited to two (2) registered, licensed and operable vehicles per apartment. Visitor parking will be limited to four areas: 1) City street parking, 2) the west side of Yreka Court where designated, 3) the north end of Helena Court where designated, and 4) Cinnabar Drive, north and south ends where designated.

All vehicles will require a University Villages parking decal to park in any University Villages parking lots.

Boats, trailers, mobile homes, etc., are not allowed in any University Villages parking lots.

Driving on the lawn is strictly prohibited in all areas of University Villages and carries and automatic $25 fine plus any costs for replacing damaged sprinkler heads and grass.

Parking is prohibited along yellow-painted curbs. Additionally, to allow for snow removal we do not allow extension cords for head bolt heaters and ask tenants park so that vehicle bumpers do not extend over sidewalks.

All two-wheeled motor vehicles must be parked in a designated parking space and are not allowed on sidewalks or landscaped areas.

The Office of Campus Security will enforce the parking policy 24 hours a day, seven days a week and ticket any vehicle that is not currently licensed and does not display a current University Villages parking decal. All vehicles must be maintained in operable condition. Be sure that your parking decals are current. New decals are required each Fall semester. New decals are required each Fall Semester. University Villages parking decals expire August 31st, so you will need a new decal by September 1st each year.
