Student Insurance Program

The University of Montana-Missoula requires all students taking seven or more state supported or self supported credits* to have and to maintain medical coverage while attending the university.

Students in Distance Learning programs are not eligible for the student insurance.

On Cyberbear: You must complete the insurance buy or refuse section before you are able to select your classes (buy if you want the student insurance, refuse if you are already insured another way).

Other Important Information:

  • If you buy the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana student insurance, you will be charged both the student insurance premium AND the Curry Health Fee, regardless the number of credits that you enroll for. (Curry health fee is a mandatory fee at 7 or more credits.)
  • The Insurance Plan is designed to cover major medical expense including but not limited to hospitalizations, outpatient surgery, prescriptions, and emergency services. The plan does not cover vision, or routine medical exams. There is a limited dental benefit that covers tooth extraction only.
