ACT Residual Testing

General Information:

ACT Residual testing is a service for students who were unable to take the ACT exam on the national test dates. The ACT exam is a national college admission examination that consists of subject area tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science. The ACT Residual is for students who wish to attend ONLY The University of Montana and are 1) desiring enrollment, 2) have been accepted, and 3) are in the process of applying.

PLEASE NOTE: Test scores cannot be sent to any other college or your high school. Your test scores will not be valid if you have taken the ACT within the last 60 days.

Test Date and Registration Info:

All testing will be given by the UM Testing Service located at Lommasson 154. Appointments are made on a one-on-one basis. Please call 406/243-6257 or TestingServices@umontana.edu, or by stopping by office in Lommasson Center 154.

Testing Fee:

The ACT Residual Test fee is $75.00. Please make checks payable to The University of Montana at time of testing. This fee is not refundable.

Test Preparation:

Practice tests are available at: this ACT site.

Materials:

Students must bring the following materials: A photo ID (students will not be allowed to test without a photo ID), and a calculator. NOTE: Acceptable forms of ID include a driver's license, school ID, military ID, or current passport. No other materials will be allowed in the testing room. Scratch paper will be provided.

Special Testing Conditions:

Students who have a documented learning, emotional or physical disability which would prevent them from finishing tests with a time limit, may be eligible to take tests in another setting or with a different time limit. Special arrangements must be made prior to the testing date and through ACT (not the Testing Center). Students who have a disability and choose to take the tests under regular timed testing conditions may not petition to re-take the tests on the basis of their disability if they are dissatisfied with the scores they earn.
