The Outstanding Student Leader Award provides recognition for those hardworking individuals who strive to make The University of Montana a better place for students to live, learn, and grow. Based solely on leadership and service to the University, this distinguished award is given to a student who exhibits ethical, creative leadership and promotes a positive campus climate while remaining in good academic standing. The recipient of the award will be recognized by the University Center Student Involvement Network and may receive an in-state Tuition Waiver for fall 2013, depending on eligibility. (Note: University regulations restrict fee waivers to one per semester, per student).

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Award honors students whose important contributions advance education and employment opportunities for people with disabilities at The University of Montana. The ADA Team recognizes that endeavors toward carrying on the spirit of the ADA require commitment and perseverance through challenges. Awardees continually set a high standard of excellence by honoring the importance of civil rights laws, using best quality practices, and creating innovative solutions that support the vision of The University of Montana to create a completely accessible campus.

Who is eligible?
All currently-enrolled UM students that meet the criteria are eligible for consideration.
Who may nominate?
Any student, faculty or staff member of The University of Montana may make the nomination.
Submit a letter of no more than two pages addressing why the nominee meets the award criteria.

The award will be presented at the Annual Outstanding Student Leader Recognition Ceremony, Tuesday, April 24, 2012 @ 4pm in the UC Ballroom.
Nominations are now being accepted for the Sentinel Service Award. All ASUM Student Groups are eligible and can fill out an application on-line for a $500 stipend.
The Sentinel Service Award recognizes an outstanding University of Montana Student Group performing an altruistic community service activity. The award is presented to one group is spring during the Outstanding Student Leadership Awards which will be held April 24th this year. In addition to the $500 stipend, The honored group is further commemorated on a plaque located in the University Center.
Applications will be assessed and judged according to the requirements of selection criteria:
Application requirement include submitting the online nomination form with attached letter(s) addressing the service projection as well as a letter of support from the student group’s advisor or a letter of recommendation from someone who was impacted from the service project.
Applications are due March 30, 2013 no later than 5:00 p.m. filled online or to the University Center Student Involvement Network.
