Who are the UM Advocates?

The University of Montana Advocates organization is a ninety to one hundred member volunteer student group that promotes the University of Montana in a variety of ways. The Advocates play a major role in many activities on campus including: campus tours, recruitment, Orientations, Homecoming, and UM Alumni functions. The Advocates also have their own community service activities and social functions.

How can I become an Advocate?

Advocate Selection occurs each year in the Fall. Simply attend an informational meeting on one of the dates listed below and you will learn more about the organization and the selection process to become an Advocate!

2012 Advocate Selection Timeline

Friday, August 31st- Written applications available at the UC Info Desk, Admissions and New Student Services front desk, or the link found above!

Friday, October 5^th- Applications due at 5:00pm at the front desk of Admissions and New Student Services. Sign up for one night of selection! Remember to have your individual presentation ready for the selection process!

Tuesday & Wednesday October 9th& 10th- Give your individual presentation and go through a group process presentation. Sign up for a time to interview with the Advocate coordinators and Advocate Advisors.

October 11th& 12th- Interview with the Advocate coordinators as well as the Advocate Advisors.

Wednesday, November 7th- If you are selected you will be invited to attend the New Advocate Induction Ceremony that starts @ 6:00pm!

Spring 2013 - If selected take part in the two credit,, upper level honors course called the Advocate Leadership Training Seminar. This class will run during the Spring semester once a week, for two hours.
